MVCA's HealthTech Company Catwalk on November 9th at Club 39
Inspired by the "Shark Tank/ Dragon's Den" format, the MVCA’s Company Catwalk was brought back with a focus on Health. Two HealthTech companies presented on Tuesday, November 9th at Club 39:
Exhalo
Exhalo is a London-based health tech start-up that is going to do for breathing what Fitbit did for movement, with even greater health benefits for their users. Exhalo wearable tracker will nudge users when they need to rebalance their breathing as taught to them by the Exhalo app. Exhalo will deliver measurable mental (reduced anxiety, depression, and poor sleep) and physical (reduced hypertension, asthma, and acid reflux) health improvements for hundreds of millions of people.
Exhalo’s has three experienced founders. Tom has over a decade of advising and working in start-ups and is the guy with the vision and team building. Nick is a medic at the top of his field, he also advises one of the world's largest macro hedge funds as a performance expert. Alessandro is a robotics and AI engineer with 20+ years launching and expanding successful start-ups and will deliver the technology. They are well supported by an exceptional advisory board.
Exhalo is doing a £1m+ SAFE/ASA seed round to take an existing breathing tracker to a state-of-the-art machine learning-enabled consumer device with a companion app and initial soft launch.
Nutrix
Nutrix is a startup based in Basel, Switzerland. It developed gSense, a user-centric glucose monitoring sensor with an esthetically pleasing design. gSense is for Type 2 Diabetes Patients. It provides 360° daily support for patients including doctors’ assistance and nutritional health programs. Nutrix is launching this solution in Chile. The gSense ecosystem is integrated with public health insurance companies and will be distributed through the largest pharmacy chain. Chile was selected as test market due to regulations and big market need - 13% of population suffer from Type 2 Diabetes.
gSense is ready for production, collaboration with pharmacy chains are defined and cleared from a regulatory point of view. More than 1.200 leads were generated in 7 days during the first social media campaign and Nutrix plans to onboard 14.000 users in the next 12 months. Nutrix is currently looking for a partner who can help finance production and launch activities from Chile and to quickly expand to Mexico and Brazil. The TAM is $2.3B.
gSense has been designed as a sensor platform, meaning that it can add more indications in the future. Currently, R&D activities are ongoing for salivary glucose – noninvasive glucose monitoring and cortisol - stress hormone sensing.
In 2021 Nutrix joined Plug and Play Silicon Valley accelerator program for digital health startups disrupting the healthcare industry. In 2020 Nutrix has been selected by Tech Crunch as TC Top Picks for outstanding early-stage startups! One of three global startups in Health Tech! In 2019, Nutrix won Web Summit Pitch Competition among other 900 startups.
